Just as I was beginning this post, I checked my Wiscmail account and remembered: I have to complete AlcoholEdu >:O !!!!!!!!!

So I guess I will be doing that instead of blogging, dang.

Good bye friends.

p.s. gredforge

Okay: collaboration post because we both agreed we need to update the blog...first time in a month. Oops. So I, evie, will be writing in this shade of puce...and sierra will be writing in this other shade of puce. If anyone can tell us which is the true shade of puce, you are very, very wise.

Okay, so we really need to inform you, our loyal followers (anyone out there?), about our hyperlink "gredforge". Quite a back story there. I guess it all begins with Harry Potter--obviously (p.s. this is a hyperlink!!). It was our favorite series back in the good old days of freshman year...still is Sierra's favorite, but my heart has long since transferred its love to another series ;) (Sierra won't let me name it, but I am sure you can hazard a guess).

Hello.
Evie, why do I have to write in this color????? :(
>:(
see hp & the philosopher's stone pg. 202 in american edition published 1998 (love how specific we are?)

Honestly--why the heck did Sierra only type that much?! She did more with the creation of gred than I did...anyway, the point is, gred came about when we decided to do a spoof off Harry Potter. We knew we had to include fred and george, but, as there were only two of us, we could really only have one person for the both of them. So we combined them, you see, into just gred. He had one line in the entire spoof movie: "p.s. I'm gred". Solid line right?

Gred was so skilled at reciting his one line he acquired instant fame.  He is now world famous.  Here are some of his traits and special skillz (oh wait, he is skilled at everything.... hmmmm how should I rephrase here are his MOST OUTSTANDING abilities):

~Pond cleaning
~Pole vaulting (averages 200 feet)
~Cake baking
~Triangle section leader in marching band
~He is really fast
~Super skinny--he can hide really well (for example, easily hides behind the skinniest trees.. forge on the other hand...........)
~He also has special chips to give him energy.  One small chip contains 5000 calories.  He once gave these chips to Coyla.... not a good ending.

There is also Forge.

Hmmm....Sierra definitely skipped some important information regarding gred's growing existence....we basically thought his one single line was so hilarious that we kept making up the most ridiculous things about him. He became a sort of imaginary friend--except not always on friendly terms. We added his brother, forge, and friends, coyla, gabbe, and coyle (siblings). We basically just had a bunch of imaginary people we talked about. It is incredibly bizarre-sounding--and really is--but it is so much fun :). In fact, we talked about him so much around some of our other friends that we confused several people into believing that he was a real person. Of course, we clarified for them...but we kept up his legacy with some of our good buddies (pole-vaulting times...oh man).

To get a visual, Gred has red hair and freckles.

It should also be noted Forge is very good at making pencils but has no other abilities.  He just sits in his room making pencils all day.  He is jealous of Gred.  Of course, who wouldn't be jealous of such a classy, talented and charming individual?

So there. Now you know why our hyperlink is "gredforge". Good times.

Bye.

So, Tolkien is a genius...

Alright, so I am sure that some of you may be getting annoyed at all my talk about LOTR (especially Sierra), so before you just skip right over the post, just know that this is not about LOTR! Yes, Tolkien wrote LOTR, but he wrote much more besides.

And one of his other works is the topic of this blog post.

The work in question is a short story titled "Leaf by Niggle". Okay, yes, the title seems pretty silly, but the content is incredible! I was doing my ab exercises yesterday evening when I picked it up to read while doing "the plank" exercise. I finished "the plank"...but kept reading the story. I finished it pretty quickly (it is very short), but I could not stop thinking about it for the rest of the day--and I am still pondering it today. It is an extremely allegorical work that made me reconsider the way I live and for what I live. I don't like spoiling stories for other people, so all I will say is: read it! You just might find that it will give you a different perspective on life...

In other news--

I made some more Amish Bread! It is delicious--about one thousand times more delicious than the last time, due to my tweaks in the recipe. I love playing with recipes, so I almost invariably alter whatever recipes I work with so as to cater to my personal tastes. I will (probably) post the perfected recipe by the end of the summer. So get ready--it's amazing.

Fish for dinner

HAH couldn't help but share this story:

So my aunt and uncle are over and my mom wants my dad to buy some salmon for dinner. He comes home with steelhead instead (it looks almost exactly like salmon! I couldn't tell the difference, but my mom could--in one glance, too). My dad tries to defend himself:

DAD: Well, I caught a steelhead once...

AUNT: Did it taste good?

DAD: NO! It was HORRIBLE!!

Where has the summer gone...

Wow....hard to believe that in a month and a half I will be at college. Pretty terrified. I DON'T THINK I CAN DO THIS!!!

Argh, this is how my life is. I make these huge expectations, goals, and hopes for myself, get terrified of failing, decide to just follow the expectations anyway, get more terrified, work hard, and then, more often than not, still fail. So, after all these years, I should finally be picking up on the pattern...so do I decide to drop one of those science classes or no? I am taking seventeen credits anyway...but...I want to get my science requirements out of the way...so...do I drop it or no?!

That is what has been going through my head for the past three weeks. It has been driving me insane.

In other news...

I finally finished LOTR trilogy, including the appendices (although not the ones about the calendar or the languages). Those books are incredible. The trilogy is one of the things that have been giving me hope through this time of constant doubt. After all, LOTR is, in part, about fighting a hopeless battle--but fighting anyway. While reading it, I would tell myself, "Hey--Frodo is fulfilling his task even though hope is next to nil...maybe I can too!" I mean, yes, this is the real world, and, yes, Frodo is fictional, but I still cannot help but be motivated anyway. My dream is next to impossible. So was Frodo's task. Frodo managed to finish his quest. The question is...can I? I guess I will just have to wait and see...

But, speaking of my crazy dream and college and stuff, I have decided to start my studying early. I am currently reading some Shakespeare plays as well as some lectures on understanding Shakespeare, so as to help me be prepared for my class. Oh golly...so much to do...

...and so little time! Summer is almost half over, and I have hardly read anything that I had planned to read this summer! I mean, I have been working (for my job) like crazy so as to save for college and beyond (what with an English major, I will need every penny I find), which definitely limits my time I could spend on reading and studying. But I love my work--and it is very necessary. So I will just try to make use of every minute. So...WHY AM I UPDATING THE BLOG?!

Better take out those Shakespeare books.

yo

My mom suggests that we rename Amish bread to something more "hip n' happenin'" like "hip-hop bread."

Oh, mom.

This is my mom:

Hip hop at its finest.

My mom says you are welcome to "sketch in a hat" ......?

Hmmmmmmmmmm... what do you think, followers?

Amish Bread Triumphs

Ha! I just made my Amish Bread. I am so very pleased with myself. It is actually the most amazing-tasting bread ever. It turned out really well, besides the fact that instead of having the top of the bread standing up like a dome (see Sierra's photos), mine just sunk. This is due to the fact that, in my wild excitement and anticipation for Amish Bread, I opened the oven about 35 times while the bread was baking. Oops. Oh well, it still tastes delicious!

Only Amish Bread can go from this:

To this:

To this!

Yumm....absolutely delicious.

Anyway, in other news....

Well, to be honest, there really isn't any. I mean, it is summer, which just means working, reading, playing music, and baking. Can't wait, yet can at the same time, for fall. In the meantime, I will just keep baking and eating Amish Bread, read like crazy, play my beautiful, yet pretty impossible, new flute song, and play my three glorious piano songs (the words are hyperlinks to the songs...I thought the font would appear different so as signify that there is a hyperlink there, but my computer doesn't show that...). I have such a relaxing repertoire of music....love it so much! Perfect for the summer...

Draft #2

You will not BELIEVE what just happened.

I had been working on this post for half an hour when all of a sudden... BLOGGER DELETED THE ENTIRE POST AND REVERTED TO THIS DRAFT!!!!!  THAT HAS NOTHING ON IT.

I am beyond mad.

Wow.

That was actually devastating.

I will try to remember what I wrote............ :(

Ok well first of all, it's the feast of Sts. Peter & Paul! :)

So, I kind of want to get new bball shoes for college.  The ones I have currently are a couple years old, and they were the cheap Dick's Sporting Goods kind... functional, but nothing special.  (Side note: Dick's Sporting Goods, what a terrible name!  Galyans was way better...) So, I decided to go on nike.com just to see what was out there.................. SOME SHOES ARE OVER $300!!!! *cough lebron x p.s. elite id cough* how ridikulus!!  Who would ever pay so much for a shoe????? urgh.. not going to lie they looked pretty incredible though.

I went swimming at Lifetime this morning and met the most courteous swimmer ever.  I had previously posted a convo, then realized.. it wasn't really that interesting was it.  Heh..live and learn ;)

After swimming I went to the spa.  I usually go to the other Lifetime I live by so I had never used this spa before.  I was the only one there so I pressed the green button to turn it on.  When I got in, all of the bubbles started overflowing and cascading out of the hot tub (which is located in the locker room very close to the lockers)!!!  Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... luckily it stopped soon but it was very alarming.

Here are some pics from the other day when I made Amish with Evie:

ARGH!!

Have you ever totally forgot what day of the week it was and thus forgot something very important that happened that day? Well, cause that's what I just did...

I tutor on Fridays and I totally forgot what day it was and thus missed my tutoring...I feel so terrible!! I have never missed or forgotten a day of work before--although I guess it is better to get the mistake out of the way so early in life.

So Sierra was so kind as to share that post about the NBA with all of you and, as I cannot bear to be outdone, I shall post something of more interest. Haha just kidding of course Sierra:). But I will admit, I have never been one much for basketball--well, in truth, once upon a time I was an extremely avid basketball player, but times have since changed and I prefer Charles Dickens to Micheal Jordan or whoever is the new hot-shot out there.

Right now I should really be doing my chores (like cleaning my bathroom), but I would much prefer to not do it. Okay, yes, well who wouldn't...what I really want to do is read my current book, Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. It is the one fantasy that I am reading this summer--after that trilogy, it is onto Faust, The Gulog Archipelago, and War and Peace. I just might be busy for a while and I know I should really just go straight to work on all the classic books, but who can say no to this here below? I cry--isn't it just so beautiful?

Okay, so I really should get back to my cleaning...or really actually get started on it. I just watched the LOTR outtakes and got super distracted--Frodo is just so adorable:). But--back to business.

Can't wait to buy this beautiful song that Sierra and I will be playing ASAP. My heart literally just melts when listening to it...

welcome to illyria, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome...

Hello everyone!
We are so pleased that you have found us.
Sincerely,
Sierra and Evie

HEH well...that is what Sierra wanted me to say, but as I am in charge of the keyboard, I will continue typing so as to make a better impression--because who would want to read a blog that starts with that?!

Okay, so a few things to cover. There are two of us blogging here, so be sure to keep tabs on who is who (not "whom"). We are incoming college freshmen, going to rival schools this fall. We decided to start this blog in order to stay in touch.

Anyway, that's all for now!

Oh, and if you see that the template/background is changed just about every week/new post, not to worry, as there are two bloggers here, each with her own preference...
